Interviewing Tips

They say public speaking is society's number one fear.  Interviewing is one form of public speaking and it can be especially nerve-racking.  Especially with the implementation of technology, there are many types of interviews including panel, group, telephone, Skype, one on one, informal, and many more.  A lot is riding on having a good interview so we have put together some steps/tips on how to do your best.
  • Gather information prior to the interview (for extra points look at more than just their website – industry trends, competitors, company products/clients, etc)
  •  Prepare questions for your interviewer to show interest in working for them instead of just wanting a job
  •  Watch the language and gestures you use during an interview
  • Search for common interview questions and practice with family or friend
  •  Dress professionally, and remember it is better to overdress than to under dress
  • Arrive on time or early
  •  Be sure to smile
  • Remember your interviewers name/title
  • To relax, take deep breaths and pause before answering a question
  • Answer all questions honestly
  • After the interview, thank them for their time and ask when you can expect a follow-up
